Target audience
- Displaced persons who were not able to go to university in their country of origin (having only a high school diploma) or who had their studies disrupted.
- Those who have graduated (with Bachelor or Master level) who need to acquire a high level of French in order to practice their profession, take competitive and non-competitive examinations or to partially adjust their professional profile in order to access the French job market.
Eligibility criteria
- Status of the candidates: refugees, people under subsidiary or temporary protection, asylum seekers.
- Situation: living for less than 5 years in France (“newcomer”) and living in Burgundy-Franche-Comté region at the time of application.
- Required language level: the candidates must currently be acquiring a minimum level of A2 in French.
- Education requirement of candidates: have at least a secondary school diploma (Baccalaureate or foreign equivalent).
- Age: must be under 45.
This study programme is not suitable for people from French-speaking countries.
Admission procedure
- Fill in this application form and send it by Email to du.passerelle.etu.exil@ube.fr between March 9 and May 8, 2026 if you want to apply for 2026/2027 academic year. If you have already sent your application during the year you must update your application by sending us the file for the 2026/2027 academic year.
- If your application is preselected you will take the French test.
- If you pass the French test you will be invited to an interview.
- You will receive the final answer after the interview.

Registration and fees of the programme
Candidates accepted into the DU Passerelle programme will carry out their administrative registration through the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy at Université Bourgogne Europe and will be exempt from enrolment fees.
Important information about grants and accommodation
To apply for a grant for the 2026/2027 academic year, you must have your 2025 tax notice.
You can download it from your personal space on the French State public finance website.
If you do not have one, you can:
- go to the Public Finance Centre in Dijon, 25 rue de la Boudronnée – you can come without an appointment on the mornings,
- contact the Tax Office as soon as possible.
If you wish to apply for student accommodation or a Crous grant based on social criteria, you must complete a Dossier Social Etudiant (DSE) and indicate DU Passerelle as your first preference.
To indicate the DU Passerelle in your wishes, you must:
- select the department of Côte-d’Or (21),
- then UFR Lettres et Philosophie,
- then in the following list Diplôme universitaire (under the DU Passerelle – Etudiants en exil heading).
