This master’s degree offers high-level through research and professional integration in academic and industrial fields in physics. The PPN Master’s degree covers the fundamental and practical of laser physics, femtosecond technologies, guided optics and optical communications, quantum mechanics and technologies as well as nanosciences and nanotechnologies. The disciplinary content is delivered using the latest theoretical, numerical and instrumental tools available in the Laboratoire Interdiciplinaire Carnot de Bourgogne (ICB) and its partners (https://icb.u-bourgogne.fr/). The program is open to initial training in M1 and with the possibility of sandwich courses in M2. The entire program is taught in English.
Graduates of the PPN Master’s degree will have a solid theoretical and practical knowledge of optics, photonics, quantum physics, lasers and the implementation of their applications in several high-tech sectors. They will be familiar with the techniques currently used in the microelectronics industry, optical communications and laser industries (from optical fiber fabrication to design/characterization of fiber laser cavities), and will have acquired a basic understanding of the physico-chemical principles governing the behavior of solid, crystalline, amorphous and organic materials, whether micro- and nano-structured materials.
LOCATION & INFRASTRUCTURE
The program is offered at the University of Burgundy, Dijon site. It is housed on the premises of the UFR Sciences et Techniques, in the immediate vicinity of the Laboratoire Interdisciplinaire Carnot de Bourgogne.
