Burgundy is one of the richest regions in France in terms of food, landscapes, and history. It has some of the best wines in the world, food like boeuf bourguignon, snails, or kir, as well as nonnettes, gingerbread and, of course, the famous mustard!

In Dijon

In Dijon, you should visit the Musée des Beaux Arts , the City Hall – Palais des ducs des Bourgogne – and follow the owl trail to enjoy the city’s architecture and history. Do not forget to touch and wish upon the owl of Notre Dame , the symbol of Dijon. You should also wander off the trail and explore the little streets. Go and try French specialties at L es Halles , a covered market designed by the famous Gustave Eiffel!

There are many  parks at your disposal in town: Parc de la Colombière, Parc de la Combe à la Serpent, Parc Clémenceau, Parc de la Toison d’Or, Parc des Argentières, Parc Darcy, Jardin Suzon and its Japanese garden and Jardin de the Arquebuse and its botanical garden.

On a rainy day you can stop by at one of the many museums ,:  Archaeological Museum, Life Sciences Museum, Astronomical Museum, Magnin Museum, Museum of Burgundy Life or  Paul Rude Museum ( a French sculptor for free).

To enjoy a beautiful view of Dijon you should climb up the Tour Philippe Le Bon in the city center. The entrance costs 1.50 € and if you go on a not so cloudy day you can even see the Mont Blanc. After all that you might want to relax, sit and drink something. Here are the best addresses:

In Burgundy

The cities surrounding Dijon can be easily explored by bike. You could check out the Route des Grands Crus , a street that allows you to enjoy some of the most beautiful sceneries in Dijon. And when you’re tired you can stop in a bar or chateau for some wine tasting. You should visit the historical center of Talant in the outskirts of the city where you can also enjoy a view of the city and of the Lac Kir , as well as Beaune and its very famous Hospice.

These are only some suggestions, but make sure to discover the hidden treasures and towns this region has to offer.
