Foreign students have access to university housing. This is organized through the CROUS (student housing agency). For general information about Crous accommodation, visit the website:  http://www.crous-dijon.fr/logements/nos-residences-universitaires/

They should reply to you in English and give you details of the specific procedure for international students.

What Crous offers:

International students arriving in Dijon for the first time have priority over other students for accommodation in university residence.

Crous Dijon serves Campus Mansart, Montmuzard, Beaune, Creusot, Auxerre and others; however, students who live in Dijon are specifically housed in Mansart, Montmuzard and Beaune Residence. (See the map below)

There are three types of rooms in each residence:  Traditional Room, Comfort Room and Studio

A traditional room costs 158 euros / month

If you are an Erasmus student (for one semester only) you are expected to pay 213 euros / month

A traditional room has the size of 10m² with these facilities: a single bed, blanket, pillow, closet, shelves, sink, mirror, desk, chair… kitchen and bathrooms are shared with other members of the entire floor. Each occupant of a room has a reserved fridge storage in the shared kitchen.

 

Comfort Room costs 250 euros / month.

As an Erasmus student (for one semester only) you are expected to pay 337 euros / month

These are renovated traditional rooms and each room has been provided with a private bathroom (toilet, shower, mirror, sink and washbasin), a single bed, blanket, pillow, closet, shelves, desk and chair. Each occupant of a room has a reserved fridge storage in the shared kitchen.

Studio  costs 326 euros / month

As an Erasmus student (for one semester only) you are expected to pay more (We don’t have the exact amount)

 

Each studio has room the size of 15m², a private bathroom (toilet, shower, sink, mirror and washbasin) and private kitchen area.

Note: These prices include all taxes / charges : water, electricity, internet, heating etc.

Mansart Residency

The Mansart site has  6 buildings  (pavillons) which are  Macon  (where the main office is), Auxerre, Nevers, Sens, Autun and Chalon.

The address for this residency is 94 boulevard Mansart. You can reach Mansart from town with the bus L5 (direction University, Mansart stop) or with the tram T1 (direction Quetigny, Erasme stop). The university buildings are approximately 5 minutes away on foot from Mansart Residency.

Facilities at Mansart: study rooms, computer rooms, vending machines with drinks, sandwiches and candies, ping pong area, parking space for bikes, a restaurant, cafeteria, and wifi (some buildings require you to bring an ethernet cable to connect to the internet ).

Montmuzard Residency

Montmuzard has  9 buildings:  Bossuet  (main office), Lamartine, Buffon, Rameau, Vauban, Rude, St Bernard, De Brosse, and Piron.

You can reach Montmuzard through the tram T1 (Erasme stop), or the L5 bus stop Mansart. It is located on main university campus at Avenue Alain Savary, approximately 2 to 10 minutes away from main lecture halls on foot.

Beaune Residency

You can get to Beaune by the tram T1 (at Mazen-Sully Stop). It is located on 37 rue Recteur Marcel Bouchard, a bit outside of the university campus. This residency has a restaurant, vending machines, wifi, parking area for bikes, study and event rooms.

Attention: CROUS residence have accommodation adapted for people with reduced mobility. You can apply for housing subsidies from the French Government through Family Allowances Fund (CAF). The amount of subsidies that will be granted is based on social criteria (resources, family situation, nature of housing, etc.).

 

General rules:

• Kitchens open at 6 am and close at 11 pm every day.
• No showers are allowed after 10 pm.
• The Mansart residency is equipped with a gate that closes. You need your key in order to access the area. On top of that each building closes at 8 pm for security reasons. Luckily your keys should allow you to open the main gates and entrances to your residency.
• People called “veilleurs” are present in the housing complex to ensure there is minimum noise every night.
• Each residency has common washers and dryers, usually located in the main building. The Crous washing machine costs 2.80 euros and the dryer, 1.20 euros for each round of use.

Items to bring:

• Pots and pans and all necessary items for eating and cooking.
• A lock for the fridge.
• Bedding (depends on the residency, but covers for mattress and blankets are required).
• Towels, hangers etc.
• Internet cable depending on your building: in Mansart (Chalon, Autun, Auxerre, Nevers) or in Montmuzard (Rameau, Rude, St Bernard, De Brosses, Piron).
• Two small size identity pictures of yourself for registration.

When you arrive:

Go to the main office of your residency. You would be asked to fill in registration forms (see below), you need to provide two identity pictures and pay the deposit (equivalent of a month’s rent) as well as first month of rent right away. You can either pay by cash, credit card, maestro card or by a cheque bearing a euro amount. Wire transfers are not permissible.

Thereafter, you will be given a set of keys for your room, the entrance of residency, and the bathroom (depending on buildings).

Papers and Forms:

You will be given a small document (purple) to fill out with your basic information. The color might change according to your status.

A bigger document (pink) will also be given to be filled out with your personal information.

Regarding the document with the residency rules, you need to put your initials at the bottom of each page, and write the date, the inscription  “read and approved” and sign on the last page.

Finally you have to check and indicate on the inventory of fixtures, the items on the list that are available, if everything works well (indicate other things observed such stains, scratches, etc.).
