Developed by Harvard University, the Digital Giza project offers a large collection of online material on the ancient Egyptian pyramids, including an immersive visit of the Tomb of Queen Meresankh III using the Matterport 3D platform. A brief introduction can be found in a recent article published in The Guardian.
For this practice exam, please offer a French localisation of:
- the texts « Who was Queen Meresankh III? » and « Meet the artists »
- the text of the help menus « Navigation » and « More Help ».
All four texts are available in the 3D interface and in the screenshots available in this online folder.
Please submit your localised texts with a commentary in English, explaining:
- how you conducted terminology and phraseology research, and what sources you used
- what likely group of users your French localisation is targeting, and how this affects your translation choices
- how you plan to deal with the external links to the English-language Digital Giza Project site.
Bonus question: what steps need to be taken to make this virtual visit accessible to blind or partially-sighted users (in any language), and what problems do you anticipate?
