Project Title: Quantum engineering using whispering gallery mode resonators (WP2)
We will design and develop a photonic platform based on reliable building block enabling the use of high-dimensional entangled states in frequency domain for quantum technology applications. A stand-alone comb frequency twin photon source based on ultra-high Q whispering gallery mode (WGM) resonators will be fabricated. We will implement a proof of concept long-distance two-photon interferences in the frequency domain with high-dimensional entangled states generated by the ultra-high Q WGM resonators. We will propose a possible unitary transformation implementation in frequency domain. Kirthanaa, co-supervised by partner AU, will develop a stand-alone frequency comb twin photon source. All necessary on-board electronics (laser driver, HF electronics, temperature controller, field programmable gate array for post processing) and packaging will be developed at AU.
Expected Results: Development and characterization of high brightness frequency comb twin photon source using a WGM resonator. Schemes to efficient manipulation of high dimensional entangled states in frequency domain. Implementation of long-distance, stable and polarization insensitive two-photon interferences in fibre infrastructure.
